Parish Council brings Queen’s Green Canopy to Flax Bourton

A working party of volunteers met on Saturday 12th November to plant 100 saplings as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, a nationwide initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Councillor Clare Andersson organised the delivery of the trees from the Woodland Trust, mulch and supports from North Somerset Council and the volunteer working party. In three hours of glorious sunshine, all saplings were planted, mulched, supported and protected from nibbling wildlife. We hope the scheme will enhance the local environment and increase biodiversity in an area severely affected by road pollution.

The Parish Council would like to thank the five village residents for their planting skills. Special thanks to Cllr Andersson for organising the whole project.
