Ash Dieback

North Somerset Council’s Development & Environment Team will be working along the B3130 at Flax Bourton this week to remove and manage Ash trees. There is more information about the disease on their website with various links to further information. https://www.n-somerset.gov.uk/my-services/libraries-leisure-open-spaces/parks-countryside/trees/ash-dieback.

Ash Dieback related tree removal and management along our major highways – the trees were surveyed last summer and it became clear that the disease has taken hold across the district and in these high risk locations it is not possible to retain the diseased trees. NSC will be producing an Ash Dieback Action Plan this year which will help to ensure that they send out the relevant communications.

Volunteers Needed for a New Village Hall Committee

You may be aware that Flax Bourton Village Hall is currently closed due to Covid regulations and that the previous operators have decided to relinquish their role after many years of running the hall.

The Future of the Hall is being discussed at the Parish Council Meeting on Monday 8 March 2021 and all residents are welcome to attend.

We’re looking for volunteers to form a new Village Hall Committee:

  • Simple business planning/ legal skills to help with formal set up
  • Finance Co-ordinator
  • Marketing Co-ordinator
  • Bookings Co-ordinator
  • Maintenance Co-ordinator
  • Village Events/Fundraising Co-ordinator

The Meeting starts at 7.30pm (with the waiting room open from 7.15pm) and will be held on Zoom – please follow this link.

The Hall is an important village asset and is at the heart of our community but, sadly, it will have to remain closed until a new Committee is in place.

The Parish Council will give as much help and support as it can to the formation of a new Committee and into the future to secure the future of the Hall.

Would you like to volunteer?  Please email Linda Roslyn, Parish Clerk
