Lots of fun was had at the Flax Bourton Community Festival on Saturday 4th June 2022. Held to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, it was also an opportunity for the community to get together. Plenty to keep children and grown-ups entertained! And the sun shone!
Congratulations to all the organisers who put in so much effort!
Station Road, Parsons Mead and Bourton Mead will be closed to vehicles and cyclists commencing on 14 June between 9:30-15:00 for up to five days. It is anticipated that the works will only take one day. Please see the Closure Notice below for full details.
Councillor Clare Andersson was delighted to visit Flax Bourton Church of England Primary School recently to present the children with a gift from Flax Bourton Parish Council to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. The beautiful water feature, created by local Ceramicist Renée Kilburn, will be part of a new quiet area at the school. The Tree water feature links with The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative which was launched inviting people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for theJubilee”. The children at Flax Bourton Primary School have already been planting trees and the Parish Council hopes to do the same later in the year.
Bristol City Council is introducing a Clean Air Zone to reduce harmful pollution from older and more polluting vehicles. The zone will start operating later this year.
To ensure that people driving into Bristol are aware of the Zone, Bristol City Council have produced a community toolkit. The toolkit includes information about the zone and items to help people understand the zone and how it may affect them.
